This review is from: WF2 Vicks Humidifier Wick Filter (Kitchen) Greetings...keeping the filter from molding is easy, if you remember a little about mold and its life cycle. Mold MUST have moisture to grow. Thus, what we do is place only enough water in the unit to last one night--I guess about two cups. I run it in the morning until it blows all the moisture out of itself, then I pop the cover off so it can get some sunlight--like vampires, mold HATES the sun! Anyway, our filters last the whole season--no problems. Cheers! The humidfier is great, however the filters are dreadful! Within 3 weeks I had to replace the wicking filter because of the mold. Blech...Had I known I was going to be replacing the filters every 3 weeks, I'd of purchased a case of them right off the jump. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.
